GREENTox

Expertise of the organisation

GREEN Tox GmbH is a spin-off company of the University of Zurich co-chaired by W. Lichtensteiger and M. Schlumpf. GREEN Tox focuses on risk assessment of environmental chemicals, in particular endocrine disrupters, by combining developmental toxicity studies in rat models with monitoring programs of internal human exposure. Additional areas of activity include test development and consulting for international and national regulatory bodies, academia and the public.

Role in the project

GEENTox is responsible for the comparison of effective internal endocrine disrupting chemical (EDC) levels in humans and rats, and the metabolomic biomarker identification. They also participate in the selection of relevant EDC mixtures for developmental toxicity mixture studies on rats and will assess the effects on brain of both sexes and peripheral tissues of female offspring. They are responsible for the chemical analyses of human tissue specimens to provide summary scores of internal EDC tissue concentrations.
